The rhythm of the rhyme her teacher gave her to recite—“I am a yellow rose, the Sultan of all the flowers, the Sultan of all the flowers”—was wrong. She envied the verse bestowed upon a friend, which scanned so much more sweetly, as much as she coveted the red ruffles of her dress, so much finer than her own yellow organdy.

A Sinhala Volume titled “Deshapremithwaye Kedapatha” (Mirror of Patriotism) authored by Former Minister Mr. Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, based on the life and works Dr. T. B. Jaya who was one of Sri Lanka’s great Muslim Leaders and took the forefront in the fight for Sri Lanka’s political freedom will be launched on Tuesday 03rd June, at 3.45 pm at Zahira College, Colombo.

Dr. Jaya not only a great leader but was also a member of State Council and the Education Select Committee which played a major role in introducing a free education system to Lankan society.
